Roberto Trostli Joins the Online Grade Six Faculty
We are pleased to announce that Waldorf educator, consultant, and lecturer Roberto Trostli has joined us for this conference. He will be presenting two hours of Grade Six Physics demonstrations, covering topics in Sound, Light, Heat, Electricity, and Magnetism. Roberto is the author of Physics is Fun, the most authoritative and widely-used guide to teaching middle-school Physics in the Waldorf Schools Movement. The videos in which he appears mark the first time that Waldorf science demonstrations have been filmed, and they offer an entirely new approach to these remarkable revelations of physical phenomena. Whether you are nervous about your first foray into laboratory science or are a seasoned science teacher, Roberto’s step-by-step approach - recorded in High Definition video - will ignite your enthusiasm for teaching Physics in Grade Six. (Click here to see the lecture/video topics).
Why an Online Conference?
The intense summer conference schedule means that a great deal of meeting time must be squeezed into a few short weeks and a handful of conference locales. We frequently have to lament that our conference presenters could only be in one place at one time . . .
. . . until now, that is! Today’s Internet makes it possible to overcome at least some of the limitations of space and time, and it makes it possible to offer an Essential Grade Six Conference – online! Three years of enthusiastic participation by Waldorf teachers worldwide have proven that the online format is an effective and efficient way to gain the breadth and depth needed for the school year to come.
Here is how it will work:
Once you have chosen the 14-day period convenient to you, you will receive links to 25 lectures and presentations by Eugene Schwartz and two hours of Physics videos by Roberto Trostli (click here to see the lecture/video topics). Most of these will be links to audio files of 60 – 75 minute lectures. Several of the links will lead to videos in which Grade Six student work will be illuminated by commentary on the Grade Six curriculum. All of the lecture/presentations will be available online during your 14-day participation period from June 11 - August 24. This means that participants can listen to the content whenever they wish, and as often as they wish, for 14 days. (How often have you taken notes as rapidly as possible at a lecture and wished in vain that you could hear it again?)
And yes, there will be handouts. PDFs of relevant Grade Six resource material will be available for you to download during the conference weeks.
“But I’m not good with computers!”
Don’t worry! The conference “interface” is completely user-friendly! The nearly 400 participants in our wintertime online Halftime Webinars and the teachers who have taken part in the Northern and Southern Hemispheres Grades Four and Five Online Conferences have experienced very few difficulties, and most were resolved in a few minutes. All you need is broadband access to the Internet. We recommend Firefox, Internet Explorer, Chrome, and Safari as the most reliable Web browsers for this conference.
Your Fee - and Your Savings
The fee for the 2 conference weeks is $300.00. That is all that you pay. Since you are participating from your home or school, there are no travel expenses, no accommodations expenses, no dining expenses. Many of you would have to considerably more than this amount to attend a Grade Four conference in your country. In these difficult economic times, such savings can make a significant difference. And no other Waldorf conference will allow you to leave such a small carbon footprint.
We hope that you will join us!
